Every crew member gets the opportunity to experience different
roles throughout the course including captain, 1st mate, navigator, tactician, winch grinder
and tailor, helmsman and mainsail trimmer. From plotting their position on the chart and choosing their
destination then gathering information to make certain it is achievable, to setting the course of action
to get there and then implementing strategies to navigate.
When everyone is operating in their right role correctly and working
together under an empowered leader the boat can operate congruently
and become aligned to make sailing easy. This provides a perfect
metaphor, which can immediately be translated into a work or
real life situation.
